NawanShahr – Punjab Water Resources and Power Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh said here on Friday that the industry in Punjab would start getting subsidised power tariff at Rs 5 per unit from January 1, 2018. “The state government would pay subsidy to the tune of Rs 1,350 crore per annum to Powercominorder to facilitate the industrial units,” he said. Disclosing this here at Shaheed-E- Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Museum, after paying rich tributes to the great martyr, he said that Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had announced that state industry would be provided power at Rs 5 per unit in election manifesto. He claimed that the state government had fulfilled many of its promises made during elections. Rana Gurjeet Singh, also said that following the concerted efforts made by the state government to complete the expansion work of Shaheed — E — Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Museum, the Union government had on Thursday approved a sum of Rs 15 crore for the completion of memorials at Khatkar Kalan and Hussainiwala. With the approval of the required funds, the state government would now be able to complete the Khatkar Kalan Museum within scheduled time March 23, 2018. The minister was here to inaugurate a resort constructed near Khatkar Kalan. The minister was accompanied by the District Congress Committee president, Satbir Singh Palli Jhikki, Malkiat Singh Bahrowal, former chairman of the Markfed, NRI Sabha representative Kewal Singh Khatkar, besides other local Congress leaders.
