Infighting in AAP appears on the surface when volunteers of Women Wing of Aam Aadmi party expressed resentment against the alleged derogatory remarks issued by Amritsar Zonal Incharge of AAP Gurinder Singh Bajwa. A group of ladies on Saturday terming the utterance of Bajwa as a well thought plan and a deliberate attempt aimed at demoralising the women from joining AAP.
Addressing the press conference on Saturday General Secretary of Punjab RTI Wing by Jeevan Jyot Kaur said that the before the formation AAP, women were reluctant to join politics due to hostile atmosphere in conventional political parties but the vision and mission of National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and respect given to ladies in the Aam Aadmi Party both by Delhi team and at local level has strengthened the consciousness of women and propelled them to join politics with an aim to contribute to this cleansing drive against the corrupt political and administrative system.
Jeevan Jyot along with Joint Secretary Legal Cell Punjab and Zonal Coordinator Legal Cell (Women) Amritsar Raman Choudhary, while demanding an immediate apology from Gurinder Singh Bajwa, said that the comments of Bajwa are intolerable and he should tender the unconditional apology for his unsavory remarks against the women fraternity or face legal action. While sharing her experience with the Aam Aadmi Party Jeevan Jyot and other women volunteers said that the atmosphere in AAP has been very congenial and the nefarious attempt to discourage women cadre from working for AAP will never be successful.
Had there been any reality in his statement, Bajwa should have brought the matter to the notice of National leadership earlier? This statement is nothing but an eruption of frustration as Bajwa and his coterie was not selected as party candidates for contesting forthcoming Assembly elections. Unequivocally, they said that despite such hurdles they would remain focused and work with increased fervor and vigor to promote the policies of AAP to ensure the formation of the government of Aam Aadmi in Punjab. On this occasion, Seema Sodhi Coordinator (Door to Door Campaign), Shivani Sharma (North Incharge), Gauri Arora, Naureen Mahajan, Harjeet Kaur, Sukhbir Kaur and Inderjit Kaur were also present.
