Inter-state gang behind robbery of 22 ATMs busted. Kapurthala police claimed to have busted a four-member gang held responsible for breaking into 22 ATM’s across Punjab and Himachal Pardesh and looting Rs 78 lakhs.Kaurthala SSP Sandeep Sharma said that in a major breakthrough on following a tip off police party under the leadership of DSP(subdivision) Sultanpur Lodhi and SHO, PS Fattudhinga staged a special drive near village Mundi Mor and noticed a suspected vehicle Indigo bearing registration no PB-17 Y-8078 coming from Sultanpur Lodhi side. Four persons were travelling in it were identified as Charanjit Singh alias Nandu of Makhu, district Ferozepur, Daljit Singh alias Sonu, Balwinder Singh duo residents of Harike of district Tarn-Taran and Suran of village Churrian.The SSP, Kapurthala said that the search led to the recovery of 5,000 tablets of psychotropic drugs, two cars (Tata-Indica and Tata-Indigo) with fake number plates and black coloured Hero-Honda bike without any number. “ During preliminary investigation they admitted that they had broke open 22 ATM’s at different places in Punjab and Himachal Pardesh and looted Rs 78 lakhs cash from January 2015 to October, 2017 .” said SSP, Kapurthala. SSP Sharma said that case under sections 22/61/85 of NDPS Act and 482/401 of IPC was registered against all the accused.
