Jalandhar: A financier from Jalandhar was shot dead in Manila by unidentified persons on Monday.
The deceased man was identified as Bhagwant Raj Bansal (60), who was working as a financier in Manila. A resident of Green Park locality in Jalandhar, he was settled in Manila for the last over 10 years.
Simran (18), the son of Bhagwant Raj Bansal who was based in Jalandhar said that he received a call from Manila that some unidentified persons had shot his father dead.
Family sources maintained that Bansal feared for his life and was planning to shift to the United States (US) but he was shot dead. It is pertinent to mention here that a large number of Punjabis have been killed in Manila in the past one decade, a majority of who were working as financiers there.
Bansal was also the former president of Khalsa Diwan Society in Manila and was active among the Indian community for leading welfare works.
