Khaira on backfoot, govt likely to prepone Vidhan Sabha session
Ludhiana – As the main opposition Party – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is on back foot over the summoning of Leader of Opposition (LOP) Sukhpal Singh Khaira by Fazilka Court in drugs case, the Captain Amarinder Singh led Congress government is likely to prepone the Assembly session in November. Every year the Assembly session is convened in December but this time the three days session will be held in last week of November. The official announcement of dates of Assembly session will be made in next couple of days.Sources said that the government wants early Assembly session as the AAP is on back foot due to the name of LoP emerging in drug case. Last week, Fazilka court had issued non bailable warrants against Khaira. The Congress MLAs will demand resignation of Khaira on moral during the Assembly session. Sukhpal Singh Khaira, a firebrand AAP MLA who is also a LoPin Vidhan Sabha gave tough time to Congress government on several issues concerning the state but this time the ruling party has planned to hit back at Khaira. Congress MLA from Ludhiana (West), Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that the date of session is not announced formally but the session is likely to be preponed this time and will be held between November 27 to 29. Another reason for early sessionis Municipal Corporation elections in Patiala, Amritsar and Jalandhar. As the ministers and Congress MLAs will busy in campaigning for MC elections in December the session will held earlier.
