However, this edition of sports festival had comparatively lesser number of events and daring acts marking the closing ceremony.

As far as spectators were concerned, the last day turnout was a massive one in comparison to the first two days of Rural Olympics. Other attractions of closing ceremony of 82nd Kila Raipur Sports festival were Bhagwant Memorial Gold Cup Hockey, athletics events, dog races, camel races and dances, elephant race, bodybuilding competition to lift the MRF tyre on display, bicycle races, athletic events, loading unloading of sand filled sacks and cultural activities Bhangra and Giddha performances by the youth.

Moreover, participation from Phillaur Police academy and handicapped performers were a treat to watch. The event also became more of a Congress political mela as a number of Congress leaders turned up for the event to reach the masses and announced grants also to cash in their vote bank in the future. Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal encouraged the participants and organisers. He mentioned the importance of tradition and culture in the state and country. Supporting the cause, he announced a grant of Rs 15 lakh towards Kila Raipur Sports Festival and Rs 10 lakh for developing the city.

Earlier, on the first day, chief guest was Congress Jalandhar Cantt MLĂ Pargat Singh. He assured to put forward a written request in Punjab Vidhan Sabha for restarting bullock cart races like in other states to keep the tradition of Kila Raipur Sports festival alive on the field. It is worth mentioning that in comparison to the previous decades and years, this time Kila Raipur Sports festival was missing the flavour of its Rural Olympics.
