Jalandhar: Punjab Transport Minister-cum-SAD Jalandhar Rural president Ajit Singh Kohar on Monday announced that from now on he would look after suspended MLA Pargat Singh’s constituency Jalandhar Cantonment seat. Kohar said that besides his constituency Shahkot, he would especially look after Jalandhar Cantonment seat. “I am zila jathedar and I will personally remain present in Jalandhar Cantonment once a week. Apart from this, I will also be available for the electorate anytime,” he said.
The Transport Minister also challenged MLA Pargat Singh to prove that which SAD leaders were willing to go along with him. However, when confronted that 51 village panchayats out of the total 61 villages of Jalandhar Cantonment seat had declared their support for him, the Transport Minister said, “We will ensure that not even a single leader goes with him.”
The SAD Jalandhar Rural president also accused Pargat of threatening Akali leaders for speaking against him. “It was SAD which made him an MLA, but he ended up terming its leaders as ‘chamchas’ and ‘dalaals’, which was never the culture in our party,” he claimed. However, Kohar maintained that SAD would never go against the popular public demand of Jamsher village residents in the solid waste management plant project.
Earlier, he blamed Pargat of not being able to perform as an MLA but eyeing top slots in AAP and Congress. In chaste Punjabi, Kohar said, “Jeda ohnu (Pargat) le jayu, ohda ‘bhog’ pai jayu. (Anyone who will take Pargat Singh in their party will be finished).”
