LUDHIANA: Teej celebrations were organised by Amanpreet Kaur, a housewife from Dugri at a restaurant on Dugri Road. Ladies of the city came dressed up in the Punjabi attire with prandis, Punjabi jutties and phulkaris, being fully dressed in traditional attires.
Amanpreet said, “These celebrations help us to get united with our tradition and culture which we are lacking behind. Such celebrations are just a reason to have a get together but the main motive behind this is to learn the different values and importance of our festivals that brings joy in lives of people.”
Another member Meenu said, “Dressing up in different styles help us to understand each other with various traditions and rituals. Dancing on peppy numbers was the main attraction for the ladies.”Around 30 ladies participated in the celebration. The special Teej contest for little angels was there where small girls too came dressed up elegantly in cultural outfits. The ladies participated with much of the aplomb in the Teej contest.
Harlee, said, “The ladies dressed up like Punjabi mutiyar was the best thing that we still care for our tradition.” The bhangra and gidha performed by ladies was mesmerising. Apart from special games and the lip smacking food stalls attracted the ladies to try the Punjabi food with full enthusiasm.
