Last chance to teachers who did not acquire B.El.Ed or D. El.Ed degree
DP Correspondent, Chandigarh – Education department has imparted a last chance to teachers of all Government, government aided and private schools who did not yet acquire qualification which is necessary for teacher job. The Untrained teachers has been given a time till March 31, 2019 by the education department. To hold their jobs as teachers they have to Pass B.El. Ed (Bachelor of Elementary Education) or D. El. Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education) qualifications said one official on condition of anonymity.As per Information Lok Sabha passes Compulsory Education (Amendment) Bill, 2017 and on the basis of which this circular was sent by department to ask there teachers to acquire requisite qualification till the given time period so that they can hold there job as teachers. This was done through an amendment to the Right to Education Act, 2009, as a last chance to such teachers not to lose their jobs. As per Information many new schools had come up in educational expansion process under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and the RTE, and many teachers who were hired did not have requisite degrees, some having studied only till school. They were given five years to train themselves, and many did, but 5-6 lakh private schools teachers and 2.5-lakh government school teachers in all India still did not have the requisite degrees. As a last chance, another two years are being given to them. The qualifications are deemed necessary to ensure that teachers are well-qualified to ensure quality of education.
