Lok adalats are now gaining popularity and it is only through it a common person is now hopeful in getting the justice these words were expressed by CJM cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Kapurthala Mr. Sanjeev Kundi while addressing a seminar being organised by DLSA, Kapurthala in the premises of Shri Guru Harkishan Public School, Sultanpur Lodhi on today. Mr. Kundi said that peoples now started preferring the lok adalats because through lok adalats not only time of duo parties is saved but also it is an economic way of getting quick justice and moreover its decision is similar to the decision of apex court which can not be challenged in any court.Providing detailed information about the Legal Services Act, 1987 Mr. Kundi said that every economical backward person whose annual income does not crosses Rs.1.5 lakh or belongs to SC/ST or victim of trafficking in human beings or beggar as referred to be in Article 23 of the constitution or a woman or a child or a victim of mass disaster or a mentally ill or otherwise disabled person or an industrial workman or in custody in a protective home within the meaning of case (g) of section 2 of the immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act 1956 etc are entitled to seek free legal aid from sub divisional court to apex court , he briefed.
CJM Mr. Sanjeev Kundi guided that at district level a permanent lok adalat has been established to take on the different cases pertaining to insurance companies, banking, housing and finance, telephone department, water and sewerage, telegraph, Telephone, transport services, electricity department and many other and every person who have public grievance can file an application with permanent lok adalat to settle the dispute in an amicable manner. Mr. Kundi further apprised that besides this for seeking any assistance and legal advice any person can approach the front office established at in the judicial complexes of Kapurthala, Sultanpur Lodhi and Phagwara. He further told that DLSA, Kapurthala has already organised nearly 2100 seminars to aware the masses about different legal aid schemes.
