Lok adalats gaining popularity says DLSA Sanjeev Kundi
Kapurthala: CJM-cum-Secretary District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kapurthala, Sanjeev Kundi said on Saturday that lok adalats were gaining popularity among public and because of this the common man is hopeful of getting justice. He said this while addressing the gathering during a seminar organised at Government Elementary School in Damulia village. Kundi said that peoples now started preferring the lok adalats because its decision is similar to the decision of the apex court which cannot be challenged in any court. The CJM also visited the Village Legal Care and Sport Centre and checked the record.
Giving detailed information about the Legal Services Act, 1987 Kundi said that every economical backward person whose annual income does not crosses Rs 1.5 lakh or belongs to SC/ST are entitled to seek free legal aid from sub divisional court, he said . Others who are entitled to seek free legal aid include victim of trafficking in human beings, beggar as referred to be in Article 23 of the Constitution, victims of mass disaster, mentally ill, disabled person and industrial workman etc.
