Four days after the Gangrape with 20 year old girl near village Isewal on South City road, the Police claimed to have arrested all six accused on Thursday. The Director General of Police (DGP) Dinkar Gupta said that till now investigation the role of six accused was figured and all were arrested by Police. If more accused will be figured, police will make more arrests. On Thursday, three absconding accused were arrested while three accused was already arrested, said DGP Dinkar Gupta who was accompanied by DIG Ludhiana range Ranbir Singh Khatra, Ludhiana Police commissioner Sukhchain Singh Gill, SSP Jagraon Varinder Singh Brar and SSP Khanna Dhruv Dahiya. The arrested accused has been identified as Sadiq Ali, Jagroop, Ajay, Surmu and Saif Ali Khan. One accused is minor. The Police is scanning the track record of the accused, added DGP. Replying to a query, DGP said that initially the victim has named 10 persons but a day after she recalled the incident and revealed that six accused raped her. The technical support team, forensic experts and sketch artists was involved in investigation and case was cracked within few hours.
Case likely to be decided in three months- DGP
The Director General of Police (DGP) Dinkar Gupta said that the Chief Minister has already announced that he will be meeting Chief Justice and urge him to shift case in fast Track court. DGP said that they will complete investigation and file chargesheet within 60 days. They are hopeful that case will be decided in one month after the filing of chargesheet in Fast track court. He added that the government will also prose that the other cases of heinous crimes with women would also be decided in fast track court.
IG headquarter to probe Police negligence in case
DGP Dinkar Gupta said that he has ordered IG Headquarters to probe the case and find out negligence of Police in case, if any. DGP said that the duty officer ASI of Police station Dakha received information about the ransom call and later he came to know about the Gangrape. However, ASI acted on complaint and visited the spot but he didn’t inform the senior officials. The service of ASI has been placed under suspension and IG rank official will further probe the matter. Moreover, lady IG officer will meet the victim and provide her every kind of help.
Police patrolling to be increased in sensitive areas- MP
Member Parliament (MP) Ravneet Singh Bittu said that the residents of South city area approached him and he called Police officials to listen to the demands of people. He added that South city road is sensitive and dangerous zone. Following the demands of residents, they will install lights at Isewal Bridge, CCTV cameras and police will increase the patrolling during night time.
