Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh today announced the date for Ludhiana local bodies elections. Elections to be conducted on February 24 and results will be announced on February 27. The nomination filing process with regard to these elections would commence on 8th February, 2018 and last till 13th February, 2018. Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh also revealed that Punjab Cabinet will also be extended after February 26.
It is also worth mentioning that Mayor has been elected for Patiala, Jalandhar and Amritsar local bodies and its time for Ludhiana. Ludhiana will also be get its Mayor on February 27. The date of 14th February, 2018 being a public holiday, the nomination papers would be scrutinized on 15th February, 2018. The date of withdrawing the nominations would be 16th February, 2018 and on the same day election symbols would be allotted. The polling would be held on 24th February, 2018.
The nomination process for the civic body polls is scheduled to begin on February 8 while the model code of conduct enforced from February 1. The counting of the votes concerning Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana would start on 27th February, 2018 and the counting of votes relating to the bye-polls would start immediately after the completion of election process on 24th February, 2018 .
In Municipal Corporation Ludhiana around 10.50 lakh voters would cast their ballot to elect their representatives from 95 wards out of which 5.67 are male, 4.82 lakh are female while 23 belong to the third gender.
