MC elections: Stage set for elections in 95 wards, 494 candidates in fray
Ludhiana – The administration is all set to hold the elections for Ludhiana Municipal Corporation and bypolls of two wards in Payal and Jagraon Municipal Councils on February 24. The administration claimed that elections would be held in transparent, free, fair and peaceful manner. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the elections in which more than 4500 cops have been deployed. Anyone found to be disturbing the peaceful conduct of the elections would be dealt with iron hands. Around 5400 employees of civil administration have also been engaged in the entire election process.This was stated by district electoral officer-cumdeputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal on Friday after reviewing the preparations of elections. Agrawal exhorted each voter to exercise his or her franchise fearlessly and asked them to show enthusiasm for voting. District Electoral Officer Pradeep Kumar Agrawal said that criminal proceedings will be initiated against those if anyone found to be indulged into the corrupt and illegal practices. If anybody will be found giving threats or warnings to the voters for casting the vote in their own favour, a case will be registered against the guilty.
