Akal Takht asks Charanjit Singh Chadha resign as chief of Chief Khalsa Diwan: Jathedar of Akal Takht Gurbachan Singh has directed the Chief Khalsa Diwan Charanjit Singh Chadha to step down from the post of president of the organization before he appears before Takht on January 23. Chadha was summoned by Akal Takht in wake of a sexually explicit video that had gone viral.Gurbachan Singh has directed him to appear before the Takht on January 23 only after resigning from the primary membership of the Sikh institution. Gurbachan Singh said that Chadha’s crime is very serious so it would be better if he first resigns from the primary membership of the CKD before appearing in front of Takht. Gurbachan also said if Chadha does not abide by the Takht directions, strict action will be taken against him.It is worth mentioning that, Chadha and his son Inderpreet Singh Chadha, who was vice-president of the CKD, were booked for sexual harassment and criminal intimidation on the complaint of the female principal. Inderpreet was also expelled from the organisation. Depressed over the episode, Inderpreet committed suicide on January 3.
