Khalsa Educational Institutions all set for solar plants
Amritsar – With a view to switch over to ‘green and clean’ energy, the Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) has commissioned a new project to install Solar power plants at its various i: and schools campuses. The historic Khalsa College’s hostels and other wings will have solar panels to generate electricity from the sunlight which will minimize the use of thermal and hydro-based power, thus cutting costs and adopting natural way of lighting and other use of energy.The required formalities in this regard had been completed with a national level company which is soon starting its work to install the projects at six different sites including Khalsa College and adjacent buildings of other institutions such as Khalsa College of Women, Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Khalsa College of Nursing and Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology, Ranjit Avenue and Khalsa College Public School.A brainchild of the KCGC honorary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, the solar plants would be installed within six months of period. “The city behind having solar energy is to cut costs on the rising prices of the power and adopting the clean energy that will finally benefit the environment. We are all set to install around 700 MW of power plants in all these educational institutions”, said Chhina.
