Congress leader Dr Rajkumar on Sunday met the family of martyr Gurmail Singh at his residence. He announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh to family and Rs 2 lakh for martyr’s wife.Moreover he also assured to give a government job to one of the family members of martyr on the behalf of Punjab Govt. Lance Naik Gurmail Singh, aged 34, hailed from Amritsar district of Punjab and is survived by his wife Kuljit Kaur. “All the martyrs were brave and since soldiers. The nation will always remain indebted to them for their supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty,’’ the Defence spokesman added. The Army also issued stern warning to Pakistan after the martyrdom of four soldiers including an officer and injuries to another. “Indian Army has retaliated strongly and effectively on Pakistan army posts. Martyrdom of Indian Army soldiers will not go in vain,’’ the spokesman warned.Pakistani troops opened fire on an Indian Army patrol, killing a Major and three soldiers, along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keri sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Sunday.
In the sudden firing, an Army Major and three soldiers were killed, the officer said. Indian troops were retaliating effectively, the officer said.
