Rural labor party protest in front of BDPO office: A massive protest was organized in front of BDPO office at Bhikhiwind, on the invitation of the state committee in order to fulfill the demands of poor people from the rural laborers. The protest was led by Tehsil President Harjinder Singh Chung, angraj Singh and Sarjit Singh Bhikhiwind. Rural Labor Minister’s state general secretary Gurnam Singh Daud and district president Chaman Lal Drajke said that the Punjab government should waived the entire debt of farm laborers. 

Apart from this, atrocities and discrimination committed on the basis of caste system should be stopped, as well as to prevent corruption spreading in the police and to implement the land reform law. He said that the third part of the Panchayat land should be given for agriculture and 10-10 Marla residential plots should be given to workers and the needy homeless people. Apart from this, grant of Rs. 5 lakhs should be given for the construction of houses and work to the entire family of dalit should be given all through the year under MNREGA Act. The spokesman said that the minimum wage of Rs 600 perday should be paid to each worker and the outstanding balance of work should be immediately issued.

The demand of the protesters was to provide employment to all the needy by connecting MNREGA with agriculture. And old age, widows, handicapped pensions, which are available under social protection, should be increased up to three thousand rupees per month. Kabal Singh Darrajke, Jaswant Singh, Pargat Singh Pehlwanke, Mahan Singh Bhikhvand, Sukhwant Singh Maniala etc were also present on the occasion.
