With the rainy season, water level in the lake of Ranjit Sagar Dam Project is continuously rising and at present the water level of the water has reached 522 meters, for which the floods like situation has arose. Because of this, three gates of the 7 spill flood gates of the dam project have been opened, leaving five thousand cusecs of water going towards Pakistan. In this regard, the officers of the DAM administration meet in the office of the Chief Engineer, SI Headquarters under the leadership of RL Mittal.Dam Administration SERL Mittal said that as the water level in the lake is constantly increasing, it is very important to inspect the flood gates. He said that due to the opening of the flood gates of the spillway of the dam projects, the flood situation could also be created, therefore the DAM Administration has already informed the concerned officers and departments in district Kathu, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Pathankot, border areas, So that the proper arrangements can be made within time. He said that at 2 PM the gate number 4 of the dam project was opened up to one meter high, leaving 5800 cusecs of water. After this, at 4:00 pm, the gate number 3 and 5 opened half a meter and 5,000 cusecs water was released. A total of 21 thousand cusecs of water was released from Madhopur headworks. He said that Madhopur Headworks, Canal and UBDC can hold up a total of 16,000 cusecs of water, and 5000 cusecs of water left towards Pakistan.On this occasion SE Roshan Lal Mittal, SE Sudhir Gupta, SESK Gurnal, Executive Engineer Anurag Grover, Beas Dev, Powercom’s Senior Executive Engineer RP Singh, SDO SK Raina and others were present.
