Tarn-Taran: Preparations for Republic Day underway at police line. DSP Ashwani Kumar Attri, SP Gurnam Singh are part of parade.  Meanwhile, Commuters can face traffic jams on Tuesday as full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day Parade will be held at Rajpath in the national capital. The rehearsal began at 9:50 a.m. from Vijay Chownk and proceed to Red Fort. When India celebrated its first Republic Day on January 26, 1950, the chief guest was a Southeast Asian leader – President Sukarno of Indonesia. Since then, only five other Southeast Asian leaders have been chief guests at India’s Republic Day Parade. This is unprecedented and the first time in the history of Independent India that the Republic Day Parade will be attended by as many as 10 head of states. ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) is the regional grouping of 10 Southeast Asian nations.
