Uber bike service: Uber has planned to launch of its bike hailing service UberMoto in Amritsar and Kanpur later this week. This comes after Uber dismissed reports of exit from India and assured 100% commitment. Currently Uber provides cabs, autorickshaws, outstation, and carpooling services in 29 cities.UberMoto is available to riders in nine cities in India -including Gurugram, Faridabad, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Noida, Ghaziabad, Mohali, Ludhiana and in Dhaka, Bangladesh. With the launch in Amritsar and Kanpur, UberMoto will now be available in 11 cities in India and 12 cities in the India, South Asia region.The San Francisco-based ride-hailing company will offer UberMoto, its bike-sharing service, in the two north Indian cities in a departure from its strategy of starting with its car offering. The company will also revive its auto-hailing service in Bengaluru and Pune this week, after halting them two years ago, and plans to expand its outstation offerings in 2018. UberMoto, which is an India-first innovation, already operates in nine Indian cities, said Prabhjeet Singh, General Manager, North, West and East India, for Uber. “We are very proud of the impact that UberMoto is having because it is an even more affordable and convenient mode of transportation to get around, it takes 75% less space than a car and you can zip through traffic,” he said.
