Hindu Suraksha Sena leader Vipin Sharma shot dead by two assailants in Amritsar on Monday was the fifth hindu leader killed during past two years.
This is the third murder of a similar nature this year where a Hindu leader has been shot dead.Vipin Sharma was shot dead in daylight on Monday morning by two unidentified men in Bharat Nagar locality of Amritsar. One of them has been caught on CCTV camera and the police are carrying out searches for both assailants.In a result of murder Shivsena (Punjab) also staged protest against state government in Amritsar also called for Bandh.
“We cannot specify anything for now. We have constituted a SIT(Special Investigative Team) for investigation. They are raiding different locations in search of clues,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Singh.
Sharma’s killing is one in a series of other similar killings. On October 17, an RSS leader was shot dead outside his house by two unidentified men in Ludhiana. The probe into RSS leader Ravinder Gosain’s October 17 killing was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).On Jan 14 this year, Shri Hindu Takht district president Amit Sharma was shot dead in Ludhiana. On August 6, 2016, RSS leader Brig Jagdish Gagneja (retd) was shot dead in Jalandhar. On April 23, 2016, Shiv Sena leader Durga Prasad Gupta was shot dead in Khanna.Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief and former deputy chief minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal said that it seemed that there was no law and order in the state under Congress rule. He accused Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh government of allowing miscreants to make a mockery of the law of the land. “The high-profile killings have been on the rise despite the tall claims made by the state police of containing such incidents of violence,” he claimed.Meanwhile, Many leaders in Punjab are pointing towards pro-Khalistan groups and Khalistani terror groups over the murders. Punjab Shiv Sena’s state vice president Rajesh Palta alleged that the killing of Hindu leaders one after the other was indicative of revival of terrorism in Punjab.
