An NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan founded by Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi on Wednesday rescued eight child laborers below the age of 14 from Ludhiana.A team of different departments of district administration and NGO had specific information regarding presence of child laborers in a factory in Madhopuri area. Another child was recovered from a show shop in Model Town area.The team held a raid at the factory in Madhopuri in morning and found seven children working in inhospitable condition. These children were paid not more than Rs 50 a week and were provided two meals at the factory. Their parents also work as laborer in some other area.
After the counseling, the children’s were handed over to their parents and some were sent at child care home.Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Aggarwal said that the Task Force of district administration was given directions to check the child labor and rescue children. “Action would be taken against the owner of factories and other commercial establishments involving children’s in labor. The drive against the child labor will continue in coming days as well”, he added.
