Bathinda thermal Plant has been permanently closed from today. Employees staged protest against Punjab Govt for the decision of closure of thermal plant. Employees in a huge number have been gathered to protest. Come 2018, Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant (GNDTP), also called Bathinda Thermal Plant, will permanently stop generating electric power. Captain Amarinder Singh government has cited an unbearable running loss of Rs 1,300 crore per month for deciding the closure of all four units of the plant.The decision was based on the report of a sub-committee constituted to look into the matter, which three Cabinet ministers Brahm Mohindra, Manpreet Singh Badal and Rana Gurjit Singh. Interestingly, all of them supported the proposal, which pushed the Council of Ministers to give a go ahead. The Cabinet, however, assured that it would be done without any job losses for the employees.
