Dengue menace in Punjab is rapidly increasing .During past two days there have been 652 cases of the disease in the state. According to the recent report, one suspected dengue patient died in Khanna.
Deceased Hari Ram was a resident of Ambedkar colony and the patient had low platelets due to dengue.It is worth mentioning that total of five deaths have been reported in Khanna in recent times. Health department is under scanner for not being able to put a clamp on spike in dengue cases.
Health department data says 6,771 cases have been reported till date this year. That’s an average of 23 cases a day. This is lower than last year that saw 10,149 cases — an average of 28 a day.The Punjab and Haryana high court on Friday put governments of Punjab and Haryana and the Chandigarh administration on notice on a suo motu petition initiated on spread of dengue and deaths due to the vector-borne disease.
