Chandigarh(Narinder Jagga): It seems that dope test is going to be a big business in the State. Amid the drug menace, the trend of dope test has been started. If look at the figure, more than 20 lacs persons will undergo this test by paying more than Rs 300 crore , in the coming three months. Reports have been started receiving reportedly proxy test reports by paying more money than actual cost Rs 1500 to avoid from the positive report. But the fear is seen among the number of Politicians and employees, who have been taking drugs for depression and other diseases, which may appear in the dope test as positive as well as number of Politicians have been taking opium. But there is also sign of relief for those people, who take liquor as the dope test will not report for alcohol.As the Punjab Government has made the dope test mandatory for all the employees including Police employees, the Rural Development and Panchayat Minister, while going a step ahead, has also decided dope test for those, who want to contest rural election, which are to be conducted in the September month. Dope test for weapon licence holders is already in progress. Demand is being raised dope tests for urban public-representatives and office bearer of all political parties. If look at the figures, which indicate the flood of dope test business ,more than 20 lacs people are likely to undergo dope test. There are 4 lace employees across the State, 9 lacs weapons holders, while in the forthcoming rural election more than 6.5 lacs candidates are likely to participate in election fray from 13028 gram panchayats, 22 Zila Parishad and 148 Panchayts Samitis, which all will undergo for dope test. A test costs Rs 1500 per person, which will cost estimate Rs 300 crore.Interestingly, near about 40 percent of employees and mostly MLAs have been taking medical claims, which indicate that they all have been going under treatment for various health problems. It is their apprehension that dope test may hit their reputation in the society, if it found positive. The dope test included the medical examination and basic lab test screening of Morphine, D Propoxyphene, Benzodiazepines, 9 Tetra hydro Cannabinol (THC), Barbiturates, Cocaine, Amphetamines’, Buprenorphine and Tramadol. Currently, an employee pay Rs 250 for annual medical test, but the dope test with the cost of Rs 1500, will disturb their budget.
