Jalandhar(Puneet Pal Singh): – To make sure the punctuality of civil hospital’s doctors and staff, Punjab Government has decided to install biometric attendance system at 22 government civil hospitals in the state. After acquiring several complaints of doctors not present at the hospitals the project of Rs 20 lakh will be installed at public hospitals said Health Minister Brahm Mohindra. He added that CCTV cameras would be installed along with biometric system so that tampering with the system would be avoided. This project is likely to be initiated on May 18.Minister said that there were 60 questions by various MLAs during this session regarding the lack of doctors, nurses, paramedical and staff at local civil hospitals. The government has decided to recruit 306 doctors under Punjab Public Service Commission with walk-in interviews with students of medical colleges. Apart from these 41 specialized doctors will be recruited by government under National Health Mission (NHM).While taking about doctors hired at Zilla Parishad, Minister said that they will be made the part of Punjab Civil Medical Services (PCMS) to make sure they work efficiently. The government faced many issues regarding none visit of doctors to their area and even area MLA don’t know who has been hired for a particular section. However, out of 1,100 doctors, 400 have agreed to be a part of PCMS and documentation of 92 have been completed, will be joining soon, said Minister.In addition to this, Brahm Mohindra said that any government hospital situated on the national or state highway would be converted into trauma centres. Apart from this, the government is opening 4 trauma centres in the state. Answering to question lacking medicines at governmental pharmacies, he said that special 3 member committee has been constituted to see over the issue. Minister announced that the state government would soon initiate a scheme to provide Rs 500 as diet money for TB patients. He said that under this scheme the department would provide nutrition enriched diet (Panjeeri) prepared by the MARKFED to the TB patients.Government gratify district with ‘Burn Unit’
Jalandhar to get specialized burn cure unit soon, announced state Health Minister Brahm Mohindra today. The unit will be set up inside the civil hospital and within three months it will be instigated. To give intense care to burn patients the specialized unit will comprise of 20 beds from which 4 beds will be for critical patients and 16 for others. The Minister said that MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary had requested several times for burn unit in the city, after looking at problems of locals the government has given such unit to Jalandhar.Lauds Congress on completion of manifesto promise
Minister extol Congress on completing its manifesto promises as Punjab government successfully acquired permission from centre to construct Government Medical College at Mohali. He said that 5 colleges were promised by Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh in the manifesto and the process has been initiated as the first college will be set up in Mohali. He said that Medical College got the permission of 100 seats in MBBS.
