Sangrur – To inspect various activities, being conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kherri (Sangrur), Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, on Monday visited the KVK, Kherri. During her visit, she evaluated various extension activities, being performed by the Kendra, like on-farm trials, front line demonstrations, farmers and farm women trainings, skill development trainings (Dairy, Poultry, Piggery and Goat farming, Bee keeping, Mushroom production, Nursery and vegetable seed production, Home science technologies). Harsimrat also inspected demonstration units and took a round of home science and soil testing laboratories. She appreciated the various processed products like pickles, squashes, chuttenies, muraba, candies, detergent powder, phenyal etc, prepared by the Kirat Self Help Group after acquiring training from KVK, Kherri. She directed the KVK authorities to implement and disseminate knowledge regarding the schemes, being run by Ministry of Food Processing Industries for farmers and farm women to establish mini-processing units.She also emphasised to promote self-help groups and farmer producer organisations to adopt these financial schemes. Dr Mandeep Singh, Associate Director (Training), KVK, Kheri, shared progress report of the KVK and explained the role of KVK in promoting latest agricultural technologies and entrepreneurship development programmes, being conducted by their Kendra for rural masses.
