Ludhiana : Industrialists are still struggling with Government’s decision of GST. Industrialists and Association were seen protesting against the Goods and Services Tax (GST), members of different industrial associations including Bahadurke Textile and Knitwear association, Janta Nagar Small Scale Manufacturers Association (JNSSMA), Knitwear club among others organised a protest march outside GST division office at Dholewal chowk on Friday and burned the effigy of Union Finance minister Arun Jaitley during their protest.
President of JNSSMA, Jaswinder Thukral, leading the protest said that they had given a 15 days ultimatum to the central government with their protest on Friday, to make necessary changes in GST or they will agitate state level protest. The industrialists are raising slogans against the centre government and finance minister by holding black flags and kettles in their hands. GST rate on their industry should be lowered down to 18% from 28% and also the return to be filed quarterly, said Thukral. Government has turned blind eyed towards the sufferings, demands and the conditions of industrialists.Tarun Jain Bawa , President Bahadurke Textile and Knitwear association, said that the government has given birth to Civil war like situation by taking two wrong decisions of demonetization and GST. Government is making huge claims of development of different sectors but the reality is totally different as, labour is struggling to get work and industrialists are coping to business. If the government to do not make changes then they would take their protest to the capital, Delhi.Kamaljit Singh Karwal, Congress Halqa Incharge, Atam Nagar also reached the spot and claimed that a congress party would raise state level agitation after the Gurdaspur elections.
