Man overcharged, assaulted by tavern owner. A customer was assaulted by a liquor tavern owner at Tajpur road in Ludhiana on Saturday over a dispute of overcharging. Victim’s Rs 2000 were also looted by the accused. Police reached the spot after being informed however accused misbehaved with them and torn the uniform of head constable.Accused has been arrested by police and two cases have been registered against him including snatching and assaulting on duty police official at police station Division number 7. Dharamvir alias Lovely, accused runs a liquor tavern at Tajpur road.
Victim, Sukhwinder Singh, resident of Vishkarma Nagar of Tajpur road alleged that he has consumed chicken at tavern and the dispute arose when he objected over over-charging by tavern owner. He further said that accused flashed a sharp edged weapon and put it on his neck. Accused assaulted him and snatched Rs 2000 from his pocket. After which he immediately informed the police about incident.Head Constable Naresh Kumar, who reached the spot after being informed, disclosed that accused was arguing with the victim and as soon as he intervened, accused manhandled him and torn his uniform.Accused has been booked under sections 379-B (snatching with force), 294 (obscene acts), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (illegal restraint) of IPC for thrashing customer Sukhwinder Singh. He has been booked under sections 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) for assaulting police officials, said ASI Mohan Lal, investigating officer.
