Patiala has been placed on maximum security alert after the encounter of most wanted gangster Vicky Gounder and the security at the Patiala Central Jail and Nabha Maximum Security Jail, from where Gounder fled last year in November, has also been increased manifold to avert any untoward incident. According to information available, security has been beefed up in view of reactions posted by different gangs reacting over the encounter of Gounder as well as threats of retaliation. Sources said that as the police party, who conducted the operation of the encounter, belonged to Rajpura CIA in this district, so to avoid any such problems to them, security and vigil have been increased. Meanwhile, security has also been increased in Patiala Central Jail and Nabha Maximum Jail as well, where a large number of gangsters are lodged. In Patiala’s Central Jail, a total of 38 gangsters are lodged and out of these, 17 are among those who were a part of Nabha jailbreak case, including jailbreak mastermind Palwinder Singh Pinda, Manni Sekhon, Sultan, Gurpreet Mangewalia and Jagatbir. Jail Superintendent of Patiala Central Jail Rajan Kapoor confirmed the development and stated that nobody would be allowed to play with the security of the jail at any cost. Inspector General of Police, Zonal, Amardeep Singh Rai also said that as a precautionary measure, Patiala district has been put on maximum security alert and the police is keeping extra vigil against anti-social elements and police personnel have been instructed to be extra vigilant in their respective areas considering the district is a sensitive one. Similarly, in Nabha’s Maximum Security Jail, a total of 11 gangsters are lodged and while increasing the security in the jail, authorities have increased vigil on these gangsters as well, but so far there has been no report of any incident taking place. Jail Deputy Superintendent Rahul Raja confirmed that though gangsters Hardeep Singh Sheera, Shamsher Singh Sheera, Kulpreet Nita Deol and Ramandeep Singh Bagga seemed somewhat disturbed over the developments, but they all were taking their meals as usual.
