The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders targeted local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu for announcing development projects worth 3568 crores for city. The SAD-BJP leader including Mayor of Ludhiana claimed that the majority of projects announced by minister were already started and under process during the term of previous SAD-BJP government. Several projects announced by minister lacks planning and viability.On September 6, Sidhu had announced developmental projects worth 3568 crores for the city including project of Jagraon bridge, canal based water supply project, completion of Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETP) etc.
The SAD- BJP leaders including mayor harcharan Singh gohalwaria, SAD district president Harbhajan Singh dang, BjP district president ravinder Arora held a press conference and said that announcements made by Local bodies minister Sidhu as manipulated, misguiding and hollow.The SAD-BJP leaders said that Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and Congress partys which has failed to fulfill promises in six months now trying to get credit of projects started by previous government.
Exposing Navjot Singh Sidhu, Ludhiana mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria said that the canal based water supply project of around 2500 crores was passed by the Finance and Contracts Committee of MC in the year 2015 and the funding has to done by the world bank and central government, under the AMRUT scheme. Ironically Sidhu has taken credit of this project.Talking about project of Jagraon Bridge, Mayor said that the funds of 16 crore for the repair of Jagraon bridge was sanctioned was previous SAD-BJP government and now minister has laid the foundation stne at Jagraon Bridge.
The Minister is publicity hungry and making the fool of people”, said Mayor.
Mayor further said that the minister has laid foundation stone of Rail over bridge (ROB) at Pakhowal road, for which no proposal has been made and the government has no source of funds.
Moroever the Minister has also announced Rs 130 crores will be provided by Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) for completion ofCommon Effluent Treatment Plants (CETP). Contrary to the claims of Navjot Sidhu, member secretary of PPcC Babu ram had denied any such development and information of providing funds as announced by minister.Meanwhile, the SaD-BJP leaders claimed that in six months the graph of Congress party has come down as the government failed to deliver its promises. In a damage control mode, the local bodies minister is taking credit of projects started by SAD-BJP government.
The SAD-BJP leaders said that they will expose congress government and make the people aware of the reality.
