Bathinda: Two farmers commit suicide. A farmer of village Shehzadi, Ferozepur jumped into the canal and commited suicide. The body has been recovered from the Rajasthan feeder Malout.The farmer’s father Baljinder Singh resident of village Shehzadi said that his son Gursewak Singh had used five acres of land for pepper cultivation but due to lack of good prices, Gursewak was very upset, due to which he jumped into the Rajasthan feeder canal on 27 August.On the other hand, farmer of the village Ghumman Kalan, Maur Mandi commited suicide by jumping in front of the train.
Gurnam Singh resident of Ghumman Kalan had about 1.5 acres of land and took loan from OBC bank and it had crossed the five-million mark.Gurnam started cultivating 1.5 acres of farmland and sons were forced to work with him but the debt was increasing day by day. On Tuesday morning, Gurnam Singh went to work and later in the afternoon, near the Kotli gates he committed suicide.
