Manpreet trying to draw political mileage: Kalia
Pathankot(Gourav Sally/ DP correspondent) – Punjab BJP today returned fire to state finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal over his remarks against SAD-BJP candidate for Gurdaspur LS bypoll, Swaran Salaria. Addressing media persons here, former
Punjab minister and senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia said that the Congress has seen the writing on the wall and hence was resorting to such tactics. Hitting back at the Congress, Kalia said that it had no agenda for the Gurdaspur bypoll and is therefore indulging in false propaganda.Strongly reacting to Badal’s allegations, Kalia said, “Manpreet Singh Badal is a mature leader and he knows there is not an iota of truth in his remarks. He is leveling these trivial accusations just to play to the gallery” Responding to Badal’s accusations, Kalia said that the column number 5 in form no. 26 clearly mentions that the person filing the affidavit has to provide information if he has charges framed against him under sections which invite a minimum imprisonment of 2 years. “It means
that the person need not necessarily provide any other such information which is not required.Salaria has a case against him under section 506 of the IPC which has been already granted stay by the court. This section invites a maximum punishment of 6 months, hence information regarding it was not required to be furnished at the time of filing the nomination. Manpreet is trying to draw political mileage out the issue. He himself had said that cases against Salaria under section 376 and 420 have already been quashed”, he said.
