Ludhiana: With the Congress government in power after ten years, the local party leaders were eyeing on the government posts of Chairman, Directors of various department, corporations and boards.
After the appointment of senior Congress leader Lal Singh as Chairman of Punjab Mandi Board with cabinet rank, the local Congress leaders have also started approaching their political bosses and Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for the posts.
From Ludhiana, KK Bawa, Rajinder Singh Basant, Pawan Dewan, Kulwant Singh Sidhu, former MLA Jasbir Singh Jassi Khangura, Ashok Parashar Puppy and several others were in race to get the post of Chairman or Directors.
Former district Congress president KK Bawa also remained Chairman of Housefed. He was demanding election ticket from Atam Nagar but denied. Now, he was in race to get post in government. Owner of Ice cream brand chairman Rajinder Singh Basant also remained Chairman in previous Congress government. He has also met Captain Amarinder Singh recently.
Former district Congress president Pawan Dewan, close confidant of former Union Minister Manish Tewari was also eyeing on the post of Chairman. After he was removed from the post of district Congress committee, he lodged protest against the then PPCC president Partap Singh Bajwa and supported Captain Amarinder Singh. When Captain become PPCC president, Dewan was appointed as Secretary of PPCC and now, he is likely to get government post.
However, a faction of party and senior most MLA is also set to oppose post of Chairman to Dewan.
Former MLA and hotelier Jassi Khangura is likely to get post of Chairman. Jassi is close to top party leaders in Delhi also.
Party leader Kulwant Singh Sidhu who was contender of election ticket from Atam Nagar is also eyeing on the post of Chairman as compensation against the denial of party ticket.
Sources said that the government will appoint Chairmans and directors after two months.
