Chandigarh: Maximum temperatures in various parts of Punjab and Haryana today fell below normal as rains lashed some places. Hisar in Haryana was the hottest place in both states as it recorded its maximum at 44.7 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, a MeT department report said. Among other places, Ambala and Karnal recorded their maximum at 36.4 degrees Celsius and 37.4 degrees Celsius, up to three notches below normal.
Ambala also received rainfall of 16 mm. Narnaul recorded its high at 34 degrees Celsius, nine notches below normal. UT Chandigarh had a high of 37.6 degree Celsius, one degree below normal. However, in Punjab, Ludhiana and Amritsar recorded their maximums at 42.1 degrees Celsius and 42 degree Celsius, two notches above normal. Patiala had a high of 38.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal. MeT department in its forecast said light rains or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana in next 24 hours. PTI
