Ludhiana: The members of Maha Sabha, an NGO, will wear the black ribbons and stand at various chowks to create awareness among people to mark the protest against encroachments and corruption by the political leaders and their supporters, on Independence Day on August 15. They would pay the tribute to the martyrs and speak with the residents at Baba Bhan Singh Park at Sunet, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, before starting the protest.
The NGO Maha Sabha members are unhappy with government and civic bodies, alleging that both these are unsuccessful to act against the encroachment and wrong practices of political leaders and people who are supporting them.Col JS Brar (retired), President of NGO said, “The political leaders in our country are fooling the common people most of the times. After sacrifices by the martyrs, we got freedom in 1947 but the governments failed to stop loot of the common people. We will struggle till we get equality here.”
He added, “Many of the political leaders and their supporters have raised encroachments in the city but the authorities concerned never took any action. Our NGO did complaints about encroachments on a public street and government land in Block A of BRS Nagar, school land in Sarabha Nagar and in other areas but the authorities never took action against the encroachers.”
He also said, “We only want freedom from the corrupt system. Before starting our struggle, we will pay tributes to the martyrs at Baba Bhan Singh Park at Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar. Then, we will wear ribbons and stand at the chowks to mark our protest against the corrupt system.”
