Ferozpur : The menace of adulteration has increased manifolds with time. It seems that the people indulged in this business have completely become inhuman as just for making petty profits, they are intentionally playing with the lives of people. The most worst shape it takes is when the adulteration is done while making sweets. The addition of harmful chemicals and substances in the preparation of sweets causes severe threat to the public health. The usage of animal fats in the preparation of the sweets is the heated topic. The issue came into light as when the health department tested the sample of milk cake in which the stains of animal fat were present along with the starch found in the milk cake.
District Health officer (DHO) Dr Surender Kumar told that the health team raided a shop in Basti Tankan Wali in Ferozepur and the team got the sample of ‘Pateesa’ and milk cake from the shop. In the report the sample of the milk cake had been found fail and narrated about the excessive usage of starch and animal fat in the milk. He said that as per law, a notice is being sent to the shopkeepers if there is any adulteration done and after 15 days, if the sample again gets fail, then a case is registered.
But interestingly this report had not been made public. Some people who had come to know about the report of using animal fat in the preparation of sweets had been asking to make the report public so that the vegetarians could not be deceived as this practice could hurt their religious sentiments.
