According to the orders of the Punjab Government, illegal mining will not be tolerated at any cost in the district and illegal mining workers will not be spared. This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Gurpreet Kaur Sapra in a discussion with journalists at Khijrababad on the occasion of untimely inspection of illegal mining sites and crashes in village Khijarabad as well in its adjoining villages. Mrs. Sapra today performed a surprise inspection of the places and stone crushers in Khajrabad, Kubahari and Mirpur villages of Majri Block, where trees cut without permission and the land was dug deep from 30 feet to 40 feet, due to illegal mining. She said that detailed report regarding illegal mining will be sent to the Punjab Government of Khijrababad and adjoining villages.In response to questions regarding the legal or illegal nature of stone crushers by the journalists, she said that there are about 35 stone crushers in these villages. The reports of these crushers will be taken from the Punjab Pollution Control Board to take action against illegal criminals. Mrs. Sapra said that a complaint had been received regarding illegal mining in this area, where she had imposed the duty of Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Charandev Singh Maan for inspection of it. She said that on the basis of that complaint, she herself had reached the area to carry out inspection of illegal mining. In response to questions regarding the alleged illegal mining in the area, she said that it is responsibilities of officials of the concerned departments, who should not inform about illegal mining to senior officials or the state government. . Action will also be taken against the officials of the concerned departments. She further said that no official of related department has brought the notice to her of the illegal mining. She has reached the area for inspection only on the basis of complain.The residents of Khizrababad told the Deputy Commissioner that the tipper being run by the illegal miners, due to which the link roads have been deteriorated and road accidents also occur. They demanded that these tippers should be closed. The Deputy Commissioner assured the villagers that the District Police Chief would be asked to stop the tippers so that link roads did not collapse due to overloaded tippers. Additional Chief Minister Charandev Singh Mann was also accompanied with other officials on the occasion.
