Jalandhar: A chaos in the traffic was created when a moving Toyota Corolla car caught fire in BMC Chonk of Jalandhar on Monday afternoon. The car was approaching traffic lights when suddenly thick smoke started out of its bonnet . The vehicle owners started moving their vehicles from the spot in a haphazard manner .Traffic police constables posted there rushed to the site and managed to clear the place .
One of the traffic HC Gurnam Singh threw water from the water cooler before the fire tender reached the site . One fire tender was used which extinguished the fire within 5 minutes but the car engine was totally destroyed in the fire .
The car was owned by the businessman Rakesh Kumar and his family was in the car at the time of the incidents .There were 5 women and a girl child of 2 and a half years inside the car who escaped unhurt. The women panicked and rushed out to save themselves and forgot the kid in the car only and the car was locked automatically .Maheshdeep a passerby took the girl out of the car by breaking window and opening the door locks. ” The car was run on LPG and had a cylinder inside .There was some malfunction in the LPG kit which caused the fire. The fire remained in the front portion only and nobody was hurt “Gurnam Singh ,Traffic HC said.
