Narcotics Cell to conduct door-to-door survey to identify drug addicts
Chandigarh(DP Correspondent): Constituted by CM Captain Amrinder Singh, the Anti-Narcotics Cell will conduct door-to-door survey to identify actual drug addicts across the Punjab with the help of newly appointed honorary Drug Abuse Prevention Officers (DAPOs). Talking to reporters, the Chairman of the Cell, Ranjit Singh Nikra told that the Chief Minister has been requested that during the morning assembly, 15 minutes of time should be given to the cell as the drug starts from the school itself.He said that the purpose to conduct the peace march, today, at Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh was to send the massage of drug de-addiction to the youth, who had gathered at the lake. Cell has been organising awareness campaign in each and every district across the Punjab. It is worth mentioning that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is the patron of this cell. Nikra told that the cell has got admitted to thousands of patients addicted with drug in the various hospitals of the state. He said, the Cell will approach door to door to get information of addicted of streets or Mohallas. He also told that to break the supply line of drugs, number of complaints have been got registered at various Police stations. As rehabilitation, a camp will be organising in Ludhiana on April 9, at Atam Nagar. He told that a survey conducted by the Cell in which it has been found that approximately 15 percent of school going children are indulged in various type intoxication.He also disclosed that number of drug suppliers have been arrested with the help of mobile network and soon there would be totally supply line cut of drug in the Punjab.
