Chandigarh:Cricketer-turned- politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has been hitting the headlines son after winning the Punjab Vidhan Sanha elections, once again gathered attention during his first appearance in the Punjab Assembly, here on Friday.
Going against the protocol, firebrand Sidhu wasted no time in occupying Capt Amarinder Singh’s chair in the house soon after Capt Amarinder Singh left the house.
Sidhu, who was sitting on the third seat in the front row, quickly shifted seat thus gathering attention of every lawmaker present in the house.
The act of Sidhu, virtually took the Congress MLAs by surprise. Nearly 5 minutes after he ‘took a feeling of the CM’s seat’, Mohali MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu approached him and apprised him of the fact.
As both the leaders while were discussing the matter a staff member of Vidhan Sabha approached Sidhu and asked him to return to his own seat.
Eying for the post of Deputy Chief Minister, Sidhu was forced to go back to his seat. There was a commotion in the media gallery and among the leaders of opposition that had Sidhu, being a MP, would have been well aware of the protocol.
Sidhu had been trying to gather media attention soon after entering the floor of the house in Punjab Assembly. He even repeatedly looked at the media and governors gallery after taking the oath.
