Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday said that in the poll season many such fronts would mushroom up in the state, and would die rapidly and not affect the polity in the state. The chief minister said this when he was asked about the possibility of former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur forming a fourth front in the state with a view to contest the forthcoming assembly elections.
Interacting with media persons on the sidelines of Sangat Darshan programme in Lambi assembly segment here on Montoday, the Chief Minister said that these fronts would hardly have any impact on state’s polity as the wise people of state would out rightly reject such fronts. Badal said that people of the state don’t rely on such leaders who have ditched their mother party for satiating their lust for power.
Earlier addressing public gatherings during Sangat Darshan in Haakuwala, Fatta Khera, Warring Khera, Fatuhiwala, Singhewala, Dhaani Singhewala, Mithdi Budgir and other villages, the Chief Minister, while listing the major initiatives taken by the state government, said that the SAD-BJP alliance government has supplied free power to the farmers of the state at a cost of Rs 50,000 crore in last ten years to bail them out from agrarian crisis. He further said that Punjab was the only state in the country to provide Atta-Dal scheme to the weaker sections adding that it was also the only state to ensure free treatment for fatal diseases like Cancer and Hepatitis C. Badal said that the state government has started first-of-its-kind scheme to provide interest free crop loans worth Rs 50,000 to the farmers. He further said that in another historic decision it has been decided that all the farmers would be provided a health insurance cover of Rs 50,000 and an insurance of Rs 5 lakh in case of accidental death or incapacitation of head of family.
Highlighting the significance of Sangat Darshan programme, the Chief Minister said that it was a flagship programme of his government from the first day ever since he assumed the office. He said that this pro-people programme finds no parallel across the country as no other Chief Minister bothers to spare so much time for the people by solving their problems at their doorsteps. Badal said that this programme helps in quick resolution of public problems on one hand besides adjudging the performance of the government officers/officials on the other.
