Nawanshahr: In the wake of increasing number of road accidents in the area, a local NGO, Vatavaran Sambhal Society, has a launched a special traffic safety drive to curb accidents. Under the drive, the society activists fixed reflector lights and radium tapes on dividers in the town here, vehicles and barricades of police check posts etc.
Society president Jaswant Bhatti, Chairman Rajan Arora and secretary Gurwinder Bhatti said the society would cover all the accident prone areas in the town with such devices to curb accidents. Traffic police in-charge Rattan Singh on the occasion thanked the Society for its initiative and said that such small measures went a long way in curbing
accidents. He revealed that the police had so far issued challans to over 1150 motorcyclists for driving their vehicles without silencers.
