Agitated over no response from the local politicians and the district administration, a boy on Sunday parked a cart full of garbage outside Jalandhar MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh’s house. Sushil Tiwari, a class IX student from Jalandhar reached the residence of Chaudhary Santokh and sat on protest with a banner mentioning that the heaps of garbage was not being lifted in Focal Point area in the city.Though the police protection outside MP’s house convinced him to lift the protest but he kept sitting outside the MP’s house for a long time. He has been protesting against garbage thrown along the National Highway, which was a major eyesore.Tiwari who was running a social group ‘Pumpkin Club’ in Focal Point locality said that it has been three months since he approached the local MP, area MLA Bawa Henry from Jalandhar North and Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma but to no avail.“Chaudhary Santokh visited our locality, so did MLA Bawa Henry but the garbage was not lifted. I also gave memorandums but none came to help us. It is monsoon season now, the garbage thrown on the road is stinking while stagnant water has made life miserable for us”, he said. The young boy said that after waiting for three months, finally he decided to protest today. “Let the Jalandhar MP and his family realise that how difficult it is to survive with garbage around”, he added. Chaudhary Santokh was away to Delhi while later he lifted the protest.
