Amritsar: Punjab’s Deputy Chief Minister and president of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Saturday asserted that in the elections of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), scheduled to be held on Sunday in New Delhi, nominees of SAD would come out with flying colours and would emerge victorious upon all the seats. He was talking to media persons here on Saturday morning in Harmandir Sahib complex, where he had come to pay obeisance at the Akhand Path.
Sukhbir claimed that as the rival parties were alleging, there was no secret pact of SAD with Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) on the issue of Satluj-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal’s construction and the political parties opposed to SAD were just resorting to vendetta politics by raising a finger upon SAD. Sukhbir alleged that during 1982, it was PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh who had advocated the construction of SYL canal as he wanted to ‘depict’ his love for the neighbouring state Haryana.
“Congress has always placed a divisive role as far as the issue of protecting Punjab’s interests was concerned.”
–Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab
“Congress had always placed a divisive role as far as the issue of protecting Punjab’s interests was concerned,” Sukhbir added while claiming that on account of Capt Amarinder’s “double speak”, the Congress in Punjab was heading towards a debacle.
Asserting that SAD-BJP alliance is going to constitute the government in Punjab for the third consecutive time, the SAD supremo stated that it was nothing but sheer unprecedented development of Punjab, taken place during past 10 years’ regime of SAD-BJP which is going to ensure third term to the alliance.
Taking a dig at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leadership, the SAD supremo asserted that it had lost ground in Delhi too, that was why AAP convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has been eyeing other states, like Punjab and Goa to usurp power and become chief minister in either of the states. Sukhbir claimed that AAP candidates were bound to lost their security deposits in most of the constituencies when the poll results would be declared on March 11.
