The SYL issue made an impact in Punjab after the apex court advised the President of India to accept the verdict against Punjab. The issue was highlighted by the print and electronic media. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), which was on the receiving end earlier, came out in dazzling light. The scenario changed discussions in offices and cafes. Even AAP sympathisers started saying that SAD-BJP may again return to power for the third consecutive time. A media adviser attached with AAP asked sheepishly, “What will be future of those journalists who had pitched their tents expecting AAP’s victory? The question seemed difficult to answer.

Himachal Congress leader avoids queries on SYL
While Punjab and Haryana are on a war path over water of Sutlej and Yamuna Link (SYL) canal, their neighbour state Himachal Pradesh from where Sutlej also flows, is silent on the issue. The state has not uttered even a single works on the interstate water dispute as on now. The politicians of Himachal Pradesh even try to avid questions on the SYL canal issue. Asha Kumar, Senior Congress leader from Himachal Pradesh, who is election incharge of Punjab Congress, when asked on the issue said, “Please do not drag me in this controversy.”

Election strategist Prashant Kishor (PK), how is hired by the Congress for a strategic poll campaign for Punjab Congress, is finding it had to stabilize himself in Punjab. Facing opposition by a section of Punjab Congress leaders and supporters, PK is dependent on his team “Indian Political Action Committee” (IPAC). Following the opposition PK has reduced the frequency of his visits to Punjab and is hardly visible in public meetings and of Punjab Congress chief Capt. Amarinder Singh.
When former Deputy Speaker kissed his telephone
Senior politician Bir Devinder Singh is a former student of Mata Gujri College (MGC), Fatehgarh Sahib. He was recently invited by old students of the college for ‘Mitter Milni’ at the college campus. Former Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Bir Devinder Singh was also invited in the function. While sharing his views on stage, Bir Devinder Singh said he never forget Mata Gujri College, which had played very important role in building his career and always contributed for the college in best way. Same was with him when he was Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker and Mata Gujri College then Principal Dr Gurmohan Singh Walia sought his help for some college work. When his personal assistant told him that Mata Gujri College principal wants to talk to him he first kissed telephone and later l spoke to him. When Bir Devinder was sharing this Dr Walia who is now vice chancellor of SGPC run Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib was also present. Bir Devinder told the gathering Dr Walia wanted his help for attaining autonomous status for the college. He immediately discussed the matter with the then concerned minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and later personally met thethen HRD Minister Arjun Singh in this regard. After completing all the necessary paper work UGC accorded autonomous status to MGC and it become first college of the state to get this status. Bir Devinder Singh also shared his experiences of student life. Bir Devinder Singh’s brother and former DIG Paramjit Singh Sarao is also alumni of MGC.
Chandigarh Police officer is a ‘Big FAN’ of Kuldeep Manak
The original track of Kuldeep Manak, ‘Tere Tille Ton’ is his so favorite that he keeps the track on repeat when not much busy in his office too. The cop told that he loves listening old songs as they remind him of his childhood days. He said that the old songs refreshes from the work load, with the music the lyrics are superb too. The cop said that whenever he is quite relaxed from work, he plugs into his computer and plays the old songs.
