Pakistani national Ehsan on five-day police remand
Jalandhar(DP Correspondent) – Following arrest, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police presented Pakistani national Ehsan-Ul-Haq, in a court here on Thursday. He was secretly staying in a village in Jalandhar. The police have sought seven-day remand but the court granted five-day remand for further investigation. Ehsan-Ul-Haq, who came to India for the fifth time has got visa till November 29. A police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Gurmeet Singh was probing, if the man was a spy or an Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) agent.Ehsan-ul-Haq (57), a Pakistani national was arrested for secretly staying in Alipur village in Jalandhar for the last five years. Hailing from Sarja village in Pakistan, he has got Austrian citizenship too. As per police investigation, Ehsan-Ul-Haq got made Adhaar card and PAN card on the address of Salempur Randhawa besides buying a four marla house in Alipur village here. The Pakistani national came in contact with one Balwinder Kaur, a resident of Mukandpur village in SBS Nagar through social media site Facebook and fell in love with her. In the year 2012, the couple got married and since then he has visited Pakistan five times. SHO Sadar Sukhdev Singh said that during investigation Ehsan-Ul-Haq revealed that he met Balwinder Kaur through Facebook and married her. “In her statement, Balwinder Kaur revealed that she has been to Pakistan once with her husband. The woman also said that she married Ehsan-Ul-Haq on the promise that they would shift to Austria and settle there”, he said.Meanwhile, a case under section 420, 419, 465, 468, 471, 120 IPC and 14 Foreigner Act was registered against Ehsan-Ul-Haq. Ehsan-Ul-Haq completed his B.Com and went to Saudi Arabia, where he worked as a carpenter. While staying in Saudi Arabia, he met an elderly Austrian woman and married her. Later, he got Austrian citizenship and settled in Austria but finally came to stay in Jalandhar illegally.
