Panchayat elections held peacefully Shahkot, Nakodar ,Nurmahal. Panchayat elections in four villages of Shahkot sub division, in one village of Nakodar sub division and one village in Nurmahal sub tehsil were held peacfully today. No untoward incident was reported from anywhere. Two village panchayat will witness direct contest for election of Sarpanch in Shahkot sub division..Returning officer Tehsildar Tarsem Singh said that in Lassori village Tarsem Lal(464) of the Congress was declare elected as Sarpanch defeating Pardeep Singh(261) of the Shiromani Akali Dal . Forty four votes were rejected .In Aidalpur villages Naridar Kaur(170 votes) of the Congress was declared elected as Sarpanch defeating Jaspreet Kaur(100) of Shirimani Akali Dal by 70 votes.Two votes were rejected. In village Kotli Gajran Vadhana(53votes) of the Congress was elected panch defeating Ranni(44) of the Congress and in Punia village Usha Ranni(85) of the congress was declare elected as panch defeating Charan Kaur (79) of the SAD. Four votes were rejected.In villages Akalpur,Dabri,Dhandowal,,Nagal Ambia, Jafarwal,Kamalpur,Khosa and Kotha only one candidates had filed nominations for election of panch which were declared elected as unopposed. In Nakodar sub division Surjit Singh of the Congress party was declared elected mamber panchayat in Kang Sahib Rai village for which polling were held today. He received 77 votes while his rival Karnail Singh of the Shiromani Akali Dal received 45 votes. Returing officer Tehsildar Bhupinder Singh said in Gahir village only one candidate had filed nomination for election of Sarpanch and in villages Nagal Jiwan,Nurpur,Chania,Chak Hathianna,Burri Pind and Haripur only one candidate had filed nomination for election of panch that were declared elected as unopposed.In Nurmahal block Avtar Singh of the Shiromani Akali Dal was declared elected panch in Mitharra village. He received 46 votes while his rival Vipin Kumar of the Congress received 32 .Two votes was rejected.
