In a big jolt to Congress, senior Congress leader Ashok Parashar Pappi and Rakesh Parashar has joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after quitting Congress.In a surprising move, Parashar brothers along with nine office bearers of Congress party joined Aam Aadmi Party in the presence of Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann during a rally at Jagraon on Wednesday evening. With the new political development, Ashok Parashar is likely to Contest Vidhan Sabha elections either from Ludhiana north or south constituency.
Confirming the development Ashok Parashar Pappi while talking to Daily Post said that the workers and leaders were ignored in Congress party. They were felling suffocated in Congress and decided to Join Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) because of its pro people policies. “I was associated with Congress party from last 30 years but party has always ignored me,” said Ashok Parashar Pappi.Ashok Parashar Pappi remained General Secretary of Congress for three times. He has contested elections on Congress ticket from Ludhiana South but remained unsuccessful.
His brother Rakesh Parashar is also popular face of Congress party in city. He is deputy leader of opposition in Ludhiana Municipal Corporation. Both Parashar brothers have strong hold in old city. Few months ago Ashok Parashar has raised his voice against party leadership after his name was not appeared in the list of office bearers of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC). Later, he was adjusted as executive member of the party.
